There was a lot of treading water in this book. I think She may of done it to make it humorous but if one does not finish the chapter they will miss the part where she writes what she actually means. She also suggests many things I myself would consider to be self-medicating and if were having real issues about being calm could make there condition worse instead of better. She has to go back and re-clarify things quite a bit because many of the things are not appropriate for someone who really has issues with anxiety, anger,self-esteem,or outbursts.
I picked up this book looking for ways to be a better mom for my child because there are times where I do not feel calm around her and was looking for of a self-help book. The golden rules I already know like counting to ten, taking a time out, think about the other person or consequences all seem to me much more helpful than anything I read in this book.
However with those things being said, if you want to read the book to just feel like you are not alone in the world with having issues about being calm, it is a great read. Her examples of issues and how some people may handle them are great they just some feel like to me could have an undesired consequence in the long run if you do not have a handle of your feelings or where they are stemming from.
I am looking for a book to teach me how to find switches and what can I do stop them before they happen. If I am not able to stop them how I can go back and clean up my mess without setting off another switch. I am also probably looking for one that is closer to my religious opinions just for my own comfort of mind and self-reflection.
